The New Pinetree Observatory Build - 2022

The observatory wasn't completely hidden from up by the house, but it fits in with the row of other outbuildings. The assembly occured at the beginning of a period of very hot weather here in the UK. I'm pleased it was done before the 40 degree temperatures hit us. One corner needed a small tapered packing strip adding to keep the walls square and parallel. With the walls up, it gave me a better feel for the floor space.

Looking roughly South South East, there's a pretty good mostly unobstructed view.

The view North North West is also good, despite the trees opposite the observatory.

The door was fitted next, followed by the "Pinetree" sign. It was the old house name, but as the new observatory has a pinetree amongst the trees opposite, it seemed appropriate to bring the sign for the new observatory. All the corners were strengthened with half inch ply triangles, since that was a job that the roof would normally do.

I was melting with the heat and there wasn't much more that could be done, so all the tools were packed away again and I took a few general shots inside and out.

July 12th - I started to add the wheels to the roof end panels.

The roof ends were balanced in place, on top of the runners to get a feel for the height and to check if any of the observatory walls would need trimming to allow for the aluminium runner. Smaller guide wheels were fitted at each end and the middle, to keep the roof aligned on the runners.
