April 3rd

After at least 17 years on the old battery, the Dodge has had a new 6 volt battery fitted. See the March 2022  "Ongoing Work" page.

December 31st

Faith and Jessie were out for a photoshoot on the 30th, to get some pictures of the completed crane. See the Event Photos page for pictures and a report.

December 29th

Jessie refused to start the day before a planned trip out. Checking showed the dizzy cap, fitted earlier in the year, had failed. See the December 2021 "Ongoing Work" page.

Jessie & Hope both attended the four day Beamish "Dig for Victory" event at the start of September. See the Event Photos section for reports from each day.

August 25th & 27th

Jessie had a bit of a coolant problem on the way back from the Fishburn Fly/Drive-In on Sunday 15th. Some investigations are shown along with the fitting of a new indicator unit which can be found in the August 2021 "Ongoing Work" page.

After an initial test drive on the 23rd, I made another test with the trailer on August 27th, shooting a video from the trailer at the same time. Pictures and the video are shown in the Event Photos section.

August 15th

Jessie and Hope had their first public event in 20 months on the anniversary of D-Day. See the Event Photos for pictures, video and a report.

May 28th

Jessie's silencer replacement began on the 26th and was completed on the 28th. There were one or two small problems along the way. See the May 2021  "Ongoing Work" page.

Jessie's springtime service continued, had a test drive and I found an exhaust problem . See the May 2021  "Ongoing Work" page.

April 25th

After fitting the new ignition parts, followed by a brief test drive which went fine, I swapped the coil back for the original one to check it. We took "Jessie" for a drive to Broomhouse Farm to check out the ignition on a longer trip and for afternoon coffee. See the Event Photos for pictures.

Jessie had some starting problems at the weekend and so has had some new ignition components fitted. See the April 2021  "Ongoing Work" page.

April 17th

April 16th was the 16th Anniversary for collecting "Jessie" and the 7th Anniversary for "Hope" returning to the road after restoration. We took them both for a drive to celebrate. See the Event Photos for pictures.

March 30th

With the UK "Stay at Home" rule being lifted on March 29th, my daughter and I went for a Jeep ride and photoshoot around the local area. See the Event Photos for pictures.

The new workshop is almost complete and both Jeeps basked in the March sunshine for a quick photoshoot. See the Event Photos for pictures.

February 25th

All change at the "Century Bombers" Head Quarters with a house move on February 24th. A new garage, new workshop and a new house to move the fleet to. See the Event Photos for pictures.

 

December 31st

Faith and Jessie were out for a photoshoot on the 30th, to get some pictures of the completed crane. See the Event Photos page for pictures and a report.

December 23rd, 24th & 25th

The floor frame has now een refitted into the truck and some little odds and ends finished off. The 24th saw some storage bracket made for the crane when not fitted to the truck and they were fitted on the 25th. See the December 2021  "Ongoing Work" page.

December 18th~21st

The construction work on the crane is complete as of the 18th. Painting began on the 19th and some last details on the 21st. Once the paint is fully cured, it can be fitted into the Dodge. See the December 2021  "Ongoing Work" page.

December 11th ~ 17th

Work has begun on the A-Frame crane which started with the seat support frame. See the December 2021  "Ongoing Work" page.

The crane materials are cut, collected and laid out to get a sense of scale. See the December 2021  "Ongoing Work" page.

I've added a new section to the menu, giving an abbreviated account of the repaint, as the original description in the Ongoing Work section will get lost as addition work pushes it down the list. The new section is called Repaint to Standard Configuration

Due to the imminent signs of a covid lockdown in the North East, we took both Jeeps out for a blast around before we may have been confined to barracks. See the Event Photos for pictures and a video.

3rd

Due to problems during the camping trip, I didn't get to visit RFC Cramlington or RAF Eshott as I had planned. Instead I returned in the normal car on September 1st to catch what I'd missed. See the Event Photos for pictures and reports.

August 27th

'Jessie' had an event to go to! ( of sorts ). A few friends and ourselves had a camping trip in Northumberland, on the edge of RAF Morpeth. While there, we managed a tour of the airfield, a visit to Eshott airfield and also the Royal Flying Corps Station Ashington. See the Event Photos for pictures and reports.

July 26th

Lacking space in the car, we took 'Jessie' and the trailer to Chester-le-Street to get rid of some house clearance tat. It was almost like a public event in days of old! See the Event Photos for a few pictures.

On July 12th, we took 'Jessie' to the coast for a run out and for a chip shop tea. While out, we cruised the coast for a few nice photo spots, passing some old military sites along the way. See the Event Photos for pictures.

We were invited over for a barbecue at the "Outlaws" place since the lockdown restrictions allowed family bubbles. We took a few pictures on the trip. See the Event Photos for pictures.

We decided to have another drive out at the end of May. I planned a tour around Washington, visiting a number of spots that I hoped would be good for photos. See the Event Photos for pictures of the trip.

16th

Just over a week after our VE Day display, with lockdown rules relaxed a little, we took the opportunity to go for a Jeep drive. See the Event Photos for pictures and a video of the trip.

9th

During April, it quickly became apparent that we were unlikely to see any events in 2020. More were cancelled so we decided that a VE Day display should take place at home. Banners were made, flags and bunting bought and on the day, both Jeeps were brought out on display. See the Event Photos for pictures and a write up of the preparations and display.
