VILLAGE Le PIN

The first place we visited was a little village called Pin. We had to stop there because of a friend called Alex. She has always called Lynne "Pin", so a photograph with "Lynne Pin" by the village sign was a must. Just a small thing to start the day, but Alex will be amused!!

MONASTERY
Le MONT St MICHEL

The monastery of Mont St Michel was built and enlarged over several centuries. The first monastery was 10th Century, and slowly over the next few hundred years, the monastery and surrounding village grew. The pinnacle to the steeple was only added in the late 20th Century, being lifted into place by helicopter!! I bet the 10th C monks wished they had the same technology.

The views from the top of the monastery were stunning, with the surrounding countryside being so flat. As can be seen from the car park picture below, there were quite a few people who came to see the monastery, and somewhere amongst that lot, near the motor homes, is "Jessie", though I haven't spotted her yet.

 Drying Off!!

As we walked back down the many stairs of Mont St Michel, it started to rain. While we had covered the seats in the jeep, we didn't want to put up the canvas roof in case we couldn't get it dried off before our trip back to England. So the start of the drive back to camp was very damp. Once on the motorway the wind carried the rain over the screen, but until then, we got rather wet and the manual wipers were causing some serious wrist action so we could see where we were going!!

About half way home, we drove out of the rain and into sun, allowing things and us to air off. Once back at camp, all the canvases were laid out in the sun to make sure they were completely dry. Having clocked up another 88 miles, "Jessie" was given a wipe down cleaning all the motorway spray off the bodywork, though a proper clean will await our return home.
