Monday July 25th
| THE
BAY at St Jouan-des-Gurets Monday started off with a trip to the supermarket for supplies, followed by a trip North. We stopped at a small Bay at St Jouan-des-Gurets for lunch. "Jessie" had the canvas top up to act as a sunshade, although there were a couple of small showers during the day also. |

COASTAL
BATTERY While looking for signs for St Malo, we stumbled across the Battery at St Survan-sur-Mer. These concrete gun emplacements were built into existing stone fortifications from an earlier era of costal defense. Memorial plaques mark the liberation dates of St Malo in August 1944. |

| Near to
one of the block houses lies what appears to be the remains of a V12
aero engine, though what type I couldn't tell.
Also on display were two beach landing obstruction obsticles, one from cast concrete and the other from bolted steel angle. |

St MALO The first picture to the right is taken from St Malo, back towards the Battery on the hill at St Survan-sur-Mer. St Malo is an old town, completely encircled by high stone walled fortifications. The battlements form a walkway right the way around the town at a height of around forty feet above street level. |

| The castle area of St Malo is almost dwarfed by the towns stone battlements and only forms a small part of the towns original defenses. Today it stands helpless to fighting off the hoards of European tourists storming the town. | |

| POINTE-du-GROUIN About 10 miles East-North-East along the coast from St Malo is the Pointe-du-Grouin which looks out Eastward over the Bay of Mont Saint Michel. Avranches can just be seen in the sunlight on the far side of the bay. The days trip clocked up another 68 miles on "Jessie" |
