GPW
School & Fuel, plus Dodge Test Drives - September 25~27th
September 25th
On Thursday the 25th, I took the Ford GPW for
a run out, as it hadn't been anywhere since Bowes Railway in June. After
collecting my daughter from school, I continued to the petrol station and got
a 5 gallon Jerrycan filled for the Dodge. I needed to do some test drives, but
the Dodge was almost empty.
September 26th
The first test drive following the Dodge
engine work didn't quite go as planned. A seven mile local trip still had the
Dodge over-heating, reaching 185F by the time I got home. There was obviously
more work to do.
September 27th
After adding a flush to the radiator and
running it on the drive, I gave it a five mile drive to push the flush around
the system at a faster rate. On this trip the temperature barely got over 160F
and was even seen to drop on occasions. I think I've finally got it running
propery again. I just need to drain the flush, rinse and replace the coolant.
