Bowes Railway & Springwell Village 1940s Weekend - June 28/29th

Lynne wasn't available for the first day of the show, so I went on my own, taking Jessie, still in the Flying Control markings worn at Northallerton the week before. There we're many military vehicles on show, as the date clashed with two other local events and at least one more in Cumbria. So for day one, there were four Jeeps, a Kubelwagon and motorbike and sidecar.

As usual, there was a firing display and battle in the rail yard on each day.

There were things going on all over the village, some of which were more in line with village fair type activities, but in the school field, there were several re-enactment camps from other eras of history, some other unusual vehicles and a wedding dress display in the church. Performers made several appearances at both the railway and community centre across both days.

For day two, we took both Jeeps. It was hot both days and despite some occasional dark clouds, there was only one brief shower on Saturday.
