Colours
of Autumn Drive - October 27th
We tried to do the trip on the 26th,
but within two miles of setting off, the M201 was having brake trouble.
We turned around and came home, then I spent the rest of the afternoon,
draining, filling and bleeding the brakes. I gave the Jeep a test drive
around the village and all was well again. By that time, it was too late
to go out, so the trip was postponed until the following morning.

I planned a route similar to that driven two
years ago, but added an additional few miles to the end. This year was also
driven with two Jeeps, rather than a single vehicle as I had before. The
recent storm Ashley had stripped quite a few leaves from the trees, while some
trees were still green and fresh looking. I'm wondering whether the cold, wet
Spring delayed the trees in their cycle this year.

Despite the storm, we did find some very
colourful spots. At some locations, I was looking directly into the sun due to
the time of day, so those pictures weren't so good, many being silhouettes.

I had hoped to stop at a war memorial, nearer
to home. It was located outside a church, but as the trip had been delayed to
Sunday morning, there were cars parked all along the road beside the memorial.
We'd been out about two hours and despite the Autumn sun, the temperature was
dropping. Fortunately we were near the end of the trip and got back home
around noon.
I hope to have the vehicles out again before
the year is out, so long as the roads haven't been gritted.
