Normandy - D-Day Beaches, Museums & Memorials - July 25th~Aug 2nd

 
Our holiday in Normandy was mainly to visit the D-Day story again, this time with our daughter. The last time we were there was 18 years ago, in the first year that we had Jessie the Jeep. Some things stayed the same, but most of the museums had made changes involving modern technology to tell the D-Day story.
 
July 25th

Arromanches Bay and Museum, the Battery at Longues-sur-Mer
and Advanced Landing Ground B12 at Ellon, South of Bayeux.

 
July 26th

Pegasus Bridge, the Battery at Merville-Franceville, Sword Beach, Centaur Memorial at La Breche D'hermanville
and the Churchill Memorial at Lion-sur-Mer.

 
July 27th

D-Day Experience ( Dead Man's Corner ) and Utah Beach.

 
July 28th

Sainte-Mere-Eglise, Utah Beach Museum, WN8 Battery Blockhaus De La Breche & Leclerc Memorial.

 
On July the 29th, 30th and 31st, we visited non-WW2 places including Bayeux town, Mont-Saint-Michel, Caumont L'Eventé Slate Mine and Saint-Martin de Mondaye Monastery.
 
August 1st

Normandy Victory Museum, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, Omaha Beach Museum, Omaha Memorial Museum,
Overlord Museum, Underwater Museum and Bayeux Museum.

 
August 2nd

Falaise Memorial.

August 3rd

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
