Over the third weekend in October, the council came around and switched all the sodium street lights for LED's. I've seen mixed reports for astronomers about these street lights. In my case, it has worked in my favour. The street is far darker than it was as all the houses were lit up orange by the side illuminating sodium lights. Now all the house fronts are in darkness. It's even better in the back garden, which had two nearby sodium lights which reflected off the back of the house, illuminating the whole of the garden. Now the whole of the back garden is in darkness and the LED lights are hardly noticable beyond my 6ft 6in fence - 22-10-18
