The International Space Station

On Tuesday April 5th, 2016, the International Space Station was making two more passes. This time I planned to catch it, rather than it being a rush job like the night before.

I set the camera sensor area to nearly the full 1280x960 pixels to improve the chances of catching the ISS, while still trying to keep the frame rate up. The first pass, I tried to use the handset at speed 7 to track the ISS while watching through the finderscope. It was tricky to keep up or not overshoot the ISS as its apparent speed changed with its movement across the sky. The second pass had the mount clutches disengaged, and the scope manually pointed while watching through the finder.

The sky must have been more clear, as with the same settings, both passes were a bit over exposed, but the seeing was much poorer, giving very few clear frames, and only a few with any signs of detail. These four images are probably the clearest selection from both passes.
