Markings Page 3

After an email to a friend at the 100th BG Museum, to check on some details, I was ready to add the rear Bumperette markings. These are basically a repeat of the front bumper codes. The bumperettes were sprayed white first, then a stencil added over the top. An olive drab mix was then sprayed through the stencil with a small airbrush.

With the bumperettes finished, all the paintwork on the Jeeps bodywork was complete. Last thing to stencil was the canvas top. There seems to be variations to the stenciling that appeared on the back of the canvas tops, but for my Air Force Jeep, it needed a star and the "Caution, left hand drive, no signal" markings.

More stencils were prepared on the computer and cut out with a sharp scalpel. This time the paint was 'brush applied' through the stencils, as it was difficult to get the stencil to lay flat on the canvas. It took about three quarters of an hour to complete.

Finally a star stencil was cut, the outline of the star brush applied, and then the rest of the star filled in without the need for the stencil.

The last picture shows the finished canvas fitted.
