Preparing for Croft

July 31st - Partial Service

With only a few days to go before Croft Nostalgia, I gave both Jeeps a check over. Engine oil and water levels were checked and were ok. All the grease points were all greased too. I also emptied a fresh jerrycan into the GPW. The M201 still needs a top up.

The transmission and transfer case oil levels were checked and topped up too. As I've mentioned before, on the M201 it's an easy job, but on the GPW, the early style transmission has the fill plug on the right side, not the left.

This makes it rather difficult to access from below the Jeep, with the skid plate in the way. The easiest way is to take the floor cover off, followed by the transmission cover. I then use a wooden dipstick to compare the oil level with the fill plug position.
