Hett Village, Sunderland Bridge and Broom House Farm - September 27th

We were having a half hearted house hunt on the internet the other day and one location revealled a Nissen hut being used as the village hall at Hett village. It seemed like a good excuse to go for a Jeep ride and explore, so we had a run up there on Sunday afternoon. While driving through the village, we also found a WW1 memorial to soldiers lost from the village in the 14-18 war.

Not far away was Sunderland bridge, where I wanted to try and catch the railway viaduct from the old original stone road bridge across the river. Unfortunately the tree growth was much larger than on the Google street view, so the viaduct wasn't as visible. By that time, little legs was saying she was hungry, so we made a detour across the moors to Broom House Farm for coffee and cake!

There were some lovely wild flowers in their car park. On the way home from the farm, we spotted Durham Cathedral in the distance. A chilly run out of 40 miles, but the sun came out towards the end of the trip. The trees are just starting to turn, but haven't yet developed their full Autumn colours.
