Croft Nostalgia was an excellent
weekend, both with content and weather. The only serious rain was a
thunderstorm on Friday late afternoon, after we had set up camp. After it
cleared, it gave a really nice Sun set which I took advantage of in pictures
three and four.

On Saturday, we had a spirited display by
Simon Ducker in the Yak 52, while on the ground were two Spitfire replicas, a
MkV on display, and the damaged MkII belonging to Neil McCarthy who was
Flightline Director for the Saturday. Joining
my display was the 92nd Bomb Group Dodge WC51 belonging to Chris, a friend I
met through a forum. The back of the Dodge was kitted out with some of my
crates and flying equipment.

Here's Simon after landing the Yak, and Bill
and Co running the Alvis
Leonides and RR Griffon. Lyta also got to sit in the Spitfire for a
photo.

Saturday evening saw another nice Sun set,
and the Spitfire made the perfect foreground
for the composition. The M24 Chaffee tank and Maurice's staff car also made
nice subjects.

Both
Lynne and Lyta were involved in the Sunday Fashion/History show, playing the
part of a family hearing the news of the outbreak of World War Two. Also seen
in the show were Captain Mainwaring, Corporal Jones, and Rosie the Riveter.

Sunday
also saw the Chaffee and Stuart tanks enter the show field in front of the
start/finish straight. Things went well at first, with the Chaffee firing a
number of blank rounds, but then the Stuart broke down. The Chaffee was then
used to tow the Stuart back out of the circuit. When almost out of the
circuit, it started up again, only to stop half way to its parking spot, and
was towed the rest of the way by a Saladin armoured car.
