On
Wednesday I took the Jeep to Thorpe Abbotts, home to the 100th BG Museum. It's
been at least a couple of years since my last visit, and as usual, a number of
displays have changed since last time. The aerial photos below were taken in
1997 and show the overall airfield and a close up of the museum and tower.
While in the glass house on top of the tower, I
found this un-official log by the flying control officer. I would like
to clean up the photos and reproduce them for paperwork inside the
Dodge.
The following photos were actually taken on
Sunday July 8th, on the way home from the Tibenham Airshow.
The 351st Squadron Perimeter and dispersals
Looking down Runway 10 through the gap in the
hedge
The base hospital was inside the wood
The RAF Depot in the woods
The 418th Dispersals were along the wood's edge
The wartime drain is still there along the
perimeter track
Looking towards the T2 & tech site
Looking back towards the 418th dispersals
Looking towards the ammo dump in the near by
wood with the bomb dump in the distance
Four 351st dispersals were in the field with the
tower in the distance
