Sedgefield Racecourse Living History Event - October 25/26th

The Sedgefield event was well supported by a number of different groups who provided a variety of interesting and different displays, which included the British, Russian, German, American and French. There were around twenty vehicles on display over the weekend. The site was fairly wet due to the previous weeks rain, and while the weather wasn't kind over the two days of the show, it could have been much worse. The sixth picture below shows the dark skies and trees bending in the 30+mph winds that threatened to level several tents and created additional ventilation in the main marquee.

Battles and weapons demonstrations were frequently held in the main arena, and while Saturdays flying display was cancelled due to the wind strength, the Issacs Fury, a modern homebuilt replica of the between the wars Hawker bi-plane, made an appearance on Sunday. It was also much more calm, though we did see rain showers and dark clouds between the blue skies and sun, a rare sight this summer. Sunday's displays were similar to that of Saturday, though there were several different vehicles on show. With the clocks changing to GMT on Sunday morning, and the dark nights now upon us, most of the displays were being dismantled by 3pm. Despite the harsh weather, this is a great venue, I and I look forwards to returning next year.
