Rawcliffe Hall - 30th/31st August

The Rawcliffe Hall event is hosted by the South Cumbria and North Lancs MVT. Lynne and myself went to meet up with Rupert as it was his local area. The event is held on a static caravan park, with vehicles and dioramas displayed in and around the site in addition to an adjacent field. People and vehicles began to arrive on Friday, and by the time we arrived mid afternoon, there were around 30 vehicles already there.

On Saturday at noon, there was a road run for anyone who wanted to go. Vehicles that took part ranged from motorcycles to a Mack truck and the convoy must have been about a mile long. The run was a little over 20 miles and included a stop at a local pub for a brief drink. They had been warned before hand and kept the car park clear for us, though we completely filled it with all manner of MV's. For the rest of the day, the vehicles were on static display at the campsite, and later on there was a battle by local re-enactors. Friday evening saw a karaoke in the marquee with several very good singers, and a few who should have been taken out and shot.

Saturday evenings entertainment was provided by a live band and Jill Daniels singing, plus of course a bar, all in the marquee. Sunday was more of a public day and again saw a battle re-enactment plus the Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopter flew in to the show field. Visiting a different area resulted in seeing several more unusual vehicles including a CMP wrecker and the Mack amongst others.
