North East Aircraft Museum Helicopter Fly in - June 29th

This was the second Helicopter Fly-in held at the museum this year. Several vehicles were in attendance comprising mainly of Jeeps and Champs. Despite strong gusty wind, two heli's flew in during the day. The first was a Hungarian registered Gazelle ( in Blue ), and later, an Alouette ( in Tiger Stripes ). The Alouette type of helicopter holds the heli altitude record at 10981mtrs. Also new to NEAM is the ex-fire training Vickers Viscount fuselage which arrived a few days earlier.

Apparently this fuselage is to be used by the Police for anti-terrorist training amongst other things.  Both Army and Air Cadets were on hand to help the public access some of the aircraft cockpits and the Bofors gun, much to the delight of several small children ( and their dads! ). Other attractions across the day included the Fire Brigade plus a tender, and the Air Cadet Band.
