Bishop Auckland - July 26th

Compared to the rain soaked car park from last year, the meeting at Asda was bathed in bright sunlight. There was a fantastic turnout of 13 vehicles. Soon after 9:30, the police escort arrived, and after a short briefing of the route, the convoy formed up for two circuits of the town. After the drive around, during which the police stopped the traffic at junctions and roundabouts, we parked up, spread along the main street. Several collecting buckets were handed out amongst us to raise money for the Butterwick Children's Hospice again.

At around noon and 2pm, there were fashion shows held in the market place. The first was centred around a military theme, while the second was civilian. The sun remained hot all day, boosting bottled water sales around us. We packed up around 4pm and set off home.
