Comparing the effect of no barlow, the x2 TAL barlow with the 1.25" eyepiece holder removed and the full barlow. The native focal length of 350mm is quite small. I wanted larger details, but particularly for surface detail, the full x2 magnification softens the detail a bit much, although prominences can be quite good. With the 1.25" eyepiece holder removed from the barlow, some of the magnification from this extension is lost, but surface detail is a bit better. These pictures should only be used as a size comparison. The capture settings were different for each one, so detail levels and sharpness isn't a good comparison. I may use the shortened barlow for surface detail, and the full barlow for prominences, scaled down to match - 23-04-16.
