IC 434, Horsehead Nebula ( Barnard 33 ) and NGC2024

The Horsehead Nebula was first recorded in 1888 by Williamina Fleming. It is just below Alnitak, the left star of Orion's three belt stars.

A guiding, camera and software test using the Canon and the Astronomik UHC filter. The clouds rolled in not long after starting this, so I only got 18 x 1 minute, ISO 1600 exposures. Not a great image, but a useful test to remind myself of the software and proceedures - 03-12-18

I gave up on the Horsehead with my Nikon camera as it was just too noisy and not sensitive enough. This is my first go with the Canon and the Astronomik UHC filter, which allowed 10 minute exposures in my heavily light polluted sky. Unfortunately the clouds rolled in not long after starting this, so I only got two 10 minute ISO 800 exposures. 23-11-14
